What does a photographer do?
A photographer is a professional who uses a camera to capture images that tell stories, document events, or express artistic ideas. Their work includes planning and setting up shots, selecting locations, directing subjects, and adjusting lighting to achieve the desired look. They also edit and retouch photos using software like Photoshop or Lightroom, manage digital files, and deliver final images to clients. Photographers may specialize in areas such as portraits, weddings, fashion, sports, commercial work, or nature photography, and they rely on a combination of creativity, technical skill, and strong communication to produce compelling images.
Are photographer artists?
Yes, photographers are artists. Like painters or sculptors, they make creative choices about composition, lighting, subject matter, mood, and perspective to express an idea or evoke an emotional response. Photography is not merely the mechanical act of pressing a shutter; it involves interpreting the world, shaping a viewer’s experience, and using technical skills in service of a creative vision. Whether documenting reality or crafting imaginative scenes, photographers use their medium to communicate meaning, and that act of intentional, creative expression is what defines an artist.
What should clients expect when working with you?
A relaxed, organized, and creative experience. I guide clients through the entire process—from planning and posing to final delivery—so they feel confident, comfortable, and fully supported.
How do you help clients feel comfortable in front of the camera?
Most people aren’t naturally confident being photographed, so I give simple direction, offer natural prompts, and create an easygoing atmosphere. My goal is authentic expression, not forced posing.
Do you retouch the images?
Yes. Every delivered image receives professional color correction and natural retouching to ensure you look your best while still looking like yourself.
How long does it take to receive the final photos?
Turnaround time is typically 7–14 days, depending on the session type. Rush delivery is available upon request.
What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor session?
I monitor the forecast leading up to the session. If weather becomes an issue, we reschedule at no extra charge to ensure the best possible results.
Do you provide assistance with location planning?
Absolutely. I offer recommendations for locations that match the look you’re going for.
Can I bring someone with me to the session?
Of course. A friend or family member is welcome as long as their presence helps you feel more comfortable and confident.
How far in advance should I book?
I recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance, especially during busy seasons, to secure your preferred date and time.
Do you offer prints or albums?
Yes. I offer high-quality prints, wall art, and handcrafted albums professionally produced to ensure long-lasting quality and color accuracy.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept all major credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your session date.
